27th June - more snapping this week

I forgot to tell you about my crime last week!!  I washed my pink lipstick which had beeen in my WHITE crop trousers in the washing machine with 2 of my husband's WHITE bowls shirts and my white underwear.
What happened?
Yes you guessed white garment had pink stains on them, the worst were the bowls shirts and boy was Peter cross (no furious) with me!!  A day later I googled all the stain removers and tried good old washing up liquid and viola! white clothes again :)  So my negative became good..........thank goodness!!

We have free use of a greenhouse this summer. My friend Carol who is now living most of each month in Wilts with her man friend has let us use hers. We bought 3 cucmbers some lettuce and tomato plant

22nd June - More Nostalgia.....Holidays...

I started this on Sunday and finally posting it today 27th June!!!

As a child we never had holidays away and this pattern unintentional but due to the circumastances of being a single Mum my children's holidays were also at the local beach apart from 2 holidays before my ex DH left me and one holiday to the south of france after the insurance paid up after a burglary, I blew the money on a holiday for myself and my 2 sons. It wasn't a very successful holiday as we discovered my eldest son hated the heat so wanted to spend all day in a darkened caravan and moaned all the time and I was lonely and missed adult company!
Sadly cannot find the photos :(
But after marrying Peter I found these photos, Iain and a friend at our local beach, obviously wasn't hot!!
These photos was when Mark was 16. He was a real entrepeneer. He decided to run an icecream business selling on our local beach ( away from any town)
He got someone who lived by the beach to give him the use of an empty freezer then bought icecreams and lollies in bulk and 2 freezer boxes which he decorated, at off he went
People really were greatful to buy from him on hot days!! No Health and safety in those days!!
My last story is a holiday disaster Peter and I had in Austria one Christmas
We used to have foreign teachers staying with us during there visit to our town with their students. One lady called Beatrice came back several times and was always asking us to visit her family especially at Christmas to see Salzburg with the snow. So one year we flew on Christmas day and arrived to find we weren't staying with her but in a closed and empty B&B round the corner from them!! We were invited round Christmas night for a meal but then we were told they would be busy Boxing day and the next day and then they would take us out for a day. In the whole week we saw them 3 times. The empty B&B was just a bedroom and shower for us to use, no breakfast since there was no owner there! So there we were everyday catching a bus into the town to find somewhere for breakfast and of course a dinner before we went back to our room. We had no other transport and couldn't speak german either!!It was an awful experience but we do laugh about it these days. The strange thing is that this lady still writes to us and has invited us back again several times....but of course we have never gone!!

21st June - Nostalgia week - HOLIDAYS

Before I start to reminisce about past holidays I thought I would show you what I have been up to instead of blogging!
The LO I did last week for UKS Weekly challenge.
I meet college friends in London last Wednesday and ended up at Brough market nr The Shard, we didn't go up, too expensive!
Apart from a LOT of walking and eating and talking we went to the Kaffe Fassett Exhibition.  Here is a collage of some of his knit wear and quilt samples. It was a great day out but I am still recovering!

PAST HOLIDAY'S
This week is Kathi's nostalgia challenge. She asks us to blog about past holidays good and bad! Whether they be mini breaks, day's out, or complete disaster!.
LOOE CORNWALL
Today I thought I would think back to my childhood
We only had 1 holiday away from home from birth to 18yrs old. I think this was because since my Father did not earn much as a school teacher and my mother didn't work
We went to Looe in Cornwall I guess by train since we didn't have a car and my father didn't learn to drive until I was 17yrs old!
I can still remember things about that holiday. We stayed in a B&B which also served an evening meal and my parents and Auntie (who lived with us and always went out with us) befriended a mother and daughter called the Taskers! and they seem to be in a lot of the holiday photos. I remember wearing see through plastic mac over a bathing costume when there was a sudden downpour of rain whilst still sitting on the beach
What fascinates me with all these photos is the fact that all the adults still remained dressed, no swim wear for them. I am the only one in a bathing costume! My mother made all our clothes so sundresses with jackets were popular to wear and of course white sandals which were whitened!!

Since we lived at a seaside town holidays and weekends were spent at our town beach. Here are some photos of these days, some with visitors who often came and stayed with us since we lived by the sea!
This was with an Auntie and Grandma, both wearing hats ready to sit in a deckchair on the beach, my mother is in the middle
Another day with my mother, my other Nana and Auntie mary note their shoes and stockings, I guess my Nana was aged about 50!
 Here I am with visitors

Tomorrow I will find holidays I had with my children, similar childhood to mine always at our local beach!

13th June Lucky Snapping week 2 - RELAX

This week it is Anne's Silver Lining challenge and we are ar the last letter in SILVER R for RELAX

Immediately I thought of this tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyl5DlrsU90 Do any of you remember it?!!

Well my whole life since retiring is one long relax or so I thought until I read the meaning of relax

  • Loosen one's grip
  • be less strict
  • reduce intensity
  • relieve tension/strain
So maybe I have got enjoy and relax mixed up?

Anyway here some photos to show you all know how I relax
Always relaxed with my friend Carol and our favourite summer spot is a quiet beach nr where I used to live This was the beginning of Oct last year
Maybe not so relaxed when DGC are around!!
Peter and I as NT members often have a relaxing day out at some of the NT gardens and properties nr us

I mustn't forget how relaxing holidays are for us to get away from daily life and family :)
Of course the other things I do to relax is read, scrap, watch TV and just sit in the garden enjoying blue skies and sunshine with a glass of red wine

Yes I certainly know how to relax these days after years of bringing up children and working full time too!

10th June - Where did the week go? week 1 VIEW

Of course I know where the week went...we had sunshine last week so I was AWOL ouside :)

It was our view week and I did take the photos
As you can see it is very sunny and chairs are all out and table is on another patio as we have eaten outside all week. The May blossom has now gone from the trees
 Our pots are flowering nicely
Our front garden is full of flowering poppies
These were the typical sunsets each evening with the sky still cloudless and knowing it would be another sunny day tomorrow
Sadly yesterday the winds blew and the clouds have arrived in the south and today is slightly overcast too
but we have flowers on the tomato plants and our hanging baskets are full of bloom to so it is officially summer here!!

I actually scrapped last night a real quick LO for the weekly challenge on UKS. It had to show clothing, visible journalling, a clockface and a fabric trim. The flowers were on our wedding cake!
and yesterday I managed to get part of Xanthe's present for her 3rd birthday at the end of June. I was so thrilled to find this fairy outfit and just want to show it off !!! Cannot wait to see her face when she opens it! The wings attach to the back of the bodice with velcro and the headdress is a ring of flowers

2nd June Scrapping Sunday

Today with the sun out I went to my monthly crop the first since April and scrapped, the first time in over a month. I really enjoyed it!  Perhaps my mojo is back???

Both LO's are from the 2 classe, one  I didn't finish and the other I missed both taught by talented Anita McDonald
