Day 189 - PAST ITS' PRIME!!

Well I promised my self I wouldn't blog until all the cupboards were finished and then the lounge, dining room thoroughly cleaned. I really hate DHW but love the clean house when it is done!
I then decided to do our online banking and get rid of some monthly direct debits as I had Sarah's cards to cancel and have also finally cancelled Scrapbook magazine which I sadly never read properly these days. I have now saved over £20 a month so I have more than £5 a week to spend on something else :)

Well past their prime are Peter and I but that was too easy to take a photo of us again!!

I knew last week I should not have thrown out all the old out of date spices and herbs etc as we emptied our cupboards!!! but knew I would still find some out of date products as my family know me so well and before the have any crisps or biscuits they look at the date. Sometimes products have been frozen so the sell by date is out of date but here is what I found today, some crisps I have just opened 18/2/12
This pack of cornflour missed the bin but has been thrown this morning...July 2009, it still thickened a month ago!!
Oh and my favourite shopping habit is if something is a bargain I buy 2 and then don't need it, can always find sald ingredients past its' prime, these spring onions I ate this lunchtime ..had to remove quite a lot
I also had some very ripe bananas which got lost last week when the kitchen got gutted. I could have made a lovely banana cake but threw them instead.

And now the exciting news, we booked the holiday we really wanted to do yesterday from Tilbury via Portugal, Canary islands to the Azores and back in August. We have been watching the prices go down for several months and then we watched the cabins being sold so went for a deal of 55% of for each passenger, the cabin we wanted too, so we are thrilled to bits!

  1. This house is also specializing in past dates due to good bargains, but I cleaned up recently, just before my parents came in fact as my mum is a dragon on the topic, lol!
How fantastic you could book your holidays, Lynne. So pleased for you !

  2. Thanks for stopping by & leaving kind words re my 365+1 catch up!! I have just been looking at the BS&SS website, ready to book for Ally Pally in September (how long ago is it that we ran into each other there?!!) but I notice they have an October show in Kettering, so I may try that one for a change...it's just up the road for me!! I did smile looking at your post...I cleared out my store cupboard not that long ago & had baking items & dried herbs from 2004!! I think we all do the same things!!! :D

  3. I don't think your out of date things are too bad, I have found much older stuff in my cupboards! Sounds like a productive day. I was cleaning too, hate it but our bedroom is now much less dusty and have got rid of some of the things that migrated in there when we were decorating at the beginning of June!

    1. It is an older cruise ship The Marco Polo, we went to the Baltic on it last year and loved the size of the boat, the wooden decks compared to the more modern cruise ships and the ease to drive to the dock and just get on the ship with no flight too. We love the sea of course living all our life by the sea :)
